Banneker serves as construction manager for The Residences @ Thayer Avenue, a multi-family development to include 52 mixed-income apartments and covered parking. This $18M transit oriented development is located one block east of Georgia Avenue just south of Colesville Road in the Central Business District of downtown Silver Spring, Maryland. Conveniently located just 2 blocks from the Silver Spring Metro Rail Station (Red Line), across the street from Safeway Grocery Store and 2 blocks north of Whole Foods and more than 10 restaurants and a movie theatre, this development is ideal for any tenant. The project is being built on a 22,000 ground square foot parcel is located on the south side of Thayer Avenue and is currently improved by a 15,000 SF office building and parking lot, which used to be the headquarters of the National Association of the Deaf and Blind. To honor the rich history of the site, the project will include an interpretative wall with quotes inspired by deaf and blind citizens who have made an impact on society with these quotes being in English, Braille and American Sign Language. The project will also include a deconstructed teletype machine which had been previously used at the National Association of Deaf for Deaf and Blind. Construction will begin in 2011. |
